Obituary

Harold Carl Jasper was born December 10, 1952 in Houston, Texas to Mathes Sr. and Mary Lucille Clewis Jasper. He was the youngest of their ten children. Harold was part of a long family tradition attending Houston Public Schools and was a proud graduate of the Class of 1971 of Phillis Wheatley High School in Historic Fifth Ward.

At an early age, he professed his faith and love of Christ and until his death was an active member and dedicated servant to the Garments of Grace Ministry at New Life Church, Decatur, Georgia, raising the quality of life for the community he served.

Known as a hard worker, Harold was employed by United Parcel Service at the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, until his death. He was respected by his coworkers for his dependability, honesty, and teamwork. In his leisure time, Harold loved gardening, hunting in Slocum, Texas, playing tennis, watching baseball, football (Houston Texans!), and running the annual Peachtree Road Race.

In 1989, Harold married the love of his life, Annemarie and was a dutiful husband and father to Jeanie Francis. Harold loved to travel and would drive anywhere, keeping his promise of taking Marie to the beach every year. Living in the Atlanta Metro Area for over 30 years, Harold formed bonds with extended family, friends, coworkers, and church members.

God called Harold to eternal rest on December 15, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mathes Sr. and Mary Lucille Clewis Jasper; brothers, Mathes Jr "MJ". and William Earl "Willie"; sisters, Rebecca (Becky)Hunter and Helen Gillard.

Harold leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving wife, Annemarie; daughter Jeanie Francis, including Jeanie's sisters Alex and Lulu, granddaughters Ari and Aziza; sister-in-law Norma Swift, great nieces and nephew, Seressia, Kezia, Denecia, Christopher and their children; his brother, Otis Jasper; his sisters, Vernita Johnson, Mae Young, Lois Rhines, and Bernice Jasper, brothers-in-law, Matthew Hunter and Norris Rhines, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
