Funeral services for Mr. Alfred Morrow, 89, of Palestine, will be held on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in The McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in The Morrow Family Cemetery in Tucker. Viewing will be on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in The McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Morrow passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Legacy at Town Creek.
Alfred Morrow was born to Dinishia Robinson Morrow and Charlie Morrow in Palestine, Texas in the Tucker area on June 17, 1932. He was preceded in death by brothers Chauncey, Joshua, Caleb, Commodore, and Abraham and sisters Florine, Mattie, Geneva and Euretta.
Alfred grew up and attended the public school in Tucker and graduated from Green Bay High School in 1950. Alfred moved to Houston and attended Texas Southern University. He was employed at Houston Meat Packing Company and advanced to the position of Secretary/Treasurer for United Food and Commercial Meat Cutters Union, Local 408, which he held until his retirement in 1991.
Alfred was affiliated with Green Bay AME Church and Ebenezer Baptist Church.
He met and married Lenora Ingram Morrow, to whom he was wed for 67 years. To this union three children were born: Gary Lynn, Darryl Earl, and Claude Elston.
Alfred departed this life on October 22, 2021. He leaves to cherish his memory a dedicated and loving wife of 67, Lenora; sons Anthony of Houston, Texas; Gary (Jacquelyn) of Oakwood, Texas; Darryl (Lucia) of Hunstville, Texas; Claude (Joyce) of Palestine, Texas: Eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Alfred was an outdoorsman from a very early age. Throughout his life he continued to be involved in farming and cattle ranching. He would readily share with and provide knowledge to others. He loved to barbecue and bragged about "making barbecue sauce so good, it would make you throw your meat away".
Rest in peace Alfred, until we meet again.
